NOTICE OF CONSULTATION SECTION 106 OF THE NATIONAL HISTORIC PRESERVATION ACT OF 1966 AS AMENDED (2006) NATIONAL HISTORIC PRESERVATION ACT SECTION 106 PROGRAMMATIC AGREEMENT FOR MINOR HAWAI’I HISTORIC BRIDGE PROJECTS STATEWIDE Notice is hereby given that the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and State of Hawaii Department of Transportation, Highways Division (HDOT) propose to develop a statewide Programmatic Agreement for Minor Hawai’i Historic Bridge Projects. This proposed project is a federal funded HDOT project. It will consider projects where the effects on historic properties are similar and repetitive (800.14 (b) (1) (i), as defined by Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966, as amended (2006). The State of Hawai’i has approximately 400 highway bridges that have been deemed eligible or potentially eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. The Minor Hawai’i Historic Bridge Projects PA is intended to streamline implementation, review, and reporting for individual bridge projects that will not affect, are not likely to affect, or have minor effects on historic properties, consistent with the requirements of Section 106 of the NHPA, and the implementing regulations in 36 C.F.R. Part 800. The PA will not address major bridge rehabilitation or replacement projects. A Virtual Community Meeting will be held on January 28, 2021 at 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
