SECTION 106 NOTICE KAIAULU O KAPI’OLANI HOUSING PROJECT HILO, KUKUAU 1st AHUPUA’A, SOUTH HILO DISTRICT, ISLAND OF HAWAI’I TAX MAP KEY: (3) 2-4-025:048, 053 and 080 The County of Hawai’i Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) and A0705, LP are receiving federal funds for a proposed housing development on a 5.05-acre parcel in Hilo, Kukuau 1st Ahupua’a, South Hilo District, Island of Hawai’i [TMK: (3) 2-4-025:048, 053 and 080]. OHCD and A0705, LP are proposing to build a 64-unit low-income housing with nine residential buildings containing 32 two-bedroom units, 24 three-bedroom units, and 8 four-bedroom units, and a community center and 80-stall parking lot. The project is subject to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. The APE is approximately 700 feet southwest of the intersection of Kapi’olani and Kukuau Street. The APE is undeveloped land within a built environment that includes homes and roads. We welcome any information you can provide for historic properties, cultural sites or history of the project parcel.
