NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS Pursuant to Chapter 91, Hawaii Revised Statutes, notice is hereby given that the State of Hawaii, Department of Transportation (DOT) Highways Division, will hold public hearings relating to the proposed adoption of Hawaii Administrative Rules, Chapter 19-150, entitled, “Autonomous Vehicle Regulations.” The new chapter includes these new sections as follows: §19-150-1 Definitions; §19-150-2 Permit required; §19-150-3 Permit application; department response; §19-150-4 Permit application requirements for manufacturers and other entities; §19-150-5 Driver requirements; §19-150-6 Vehicle requirements and inspections; §19-150-7 Insurance; §19-150-8 Reporting; §19-150-9 Permit suspension; §19-150-10 Severability; and two reserved sections. The topic and general description of the proposed rule is autonomous vehicle regulation. A copy of the proposed rule to be adopted will be mailed to any interested person who requests a copy in writing. The written request must state the requester’s name and mailing address and must be sent to Highways Division Autonomous Vehicle Regulations, 869 Punchbowl Street, Honolulu, Hawaii, 96813. The public hearing will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at 9:00 a.m, in the DOT Highways Division at 869 Punchbowl Street, Honolulu, Hawaii, 96813, in the media center on the first floor. The DOT will make and announce its decision on the proposed adoption of administrative rules on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. in the same location.
