Statewide Long-Range Land Transportation Plan and Regional Long-Range Land Transportation Plan for the Island of Hawaii The Hawaii Department of Transportation is providing notice of virtual public meetings for updates to the Statewide Long-Range Land Transportation Plan and the Regional Long-Range Land Transportation Plan for the island of Hawaii. The statewide and regional long-range land transportation plans, titled Statewide Federal-Aid Highways 2035 Transportation Plan and Federal-Aid Highways 2035 Transportation Plans for the Districts of Maui, Hawaii, and Kauai, were last updated in July 2014. Since then, Hawaii as a state has experienced changes in population, development, and travel needs. The Plan embraces the values of the people of Hawaii and identifies existing and future needs for the movement of people and goods utilizing all modes of land-based transportation. These meetings will allow input from stakeholders and communities across the island to assist in the planning process for the State’s and Hawaii island’s transportation system’s facilities and programs, and outline policies and investment strategies to proactively address projected future needs. Public meetings were held for the Hawaii Plan in March 2025, where an overview of the Plan, goals and objectives, and existing and forecast conditions were shared, and a survey was provided to solicit feedback on needs and opportunities. This second round of public meetings for the Hawaii Plan will focus on sharing the results from the survey, outcomes from the scenario planning task, financial forecast, and funding strategies. The virtual meetings for public input on the Statewide Plan and the Hawaii Plan will be on the following dates and times: Statewide Plan: Tuesday, March 10th, Microsoft Teams Afternoon meeting: 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Evening meeting: 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Hawaii Plan: Thursday, March 12th, Microsoft Teams Afternoon meeting: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Evening meeting: 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Please visit the project website to access the links to join the virtual meetings: http://bit.ly/4i1ndNK Those that cannot attend the virtual public meetings are encouraged to visit the project website for more information and to view the meeting recordings.
