NEAL TADASHI NAKAMURA Neal Tadashi Nakamura, born August 18, 1949, in Hilo, Hawaii, passed away on March 24, 2026 at the age of 76. He was surrounded by the love of his family. Neal was a graduate of Hilo High School and a business major at University of Hawaii, Manoa. He was an avid photographer and skin diver in his youth and later enjoyed metal detecting and creating jewelry from his many treasures. He began his career in the visitor industry at the Queen Kapiolani Hotel in Waikiki and retired from the Grand Naniloa Hotel in Hilo with over thirty years behind the front desk and as night auditor. In retirement Neal spent many hours caring for his family home and property. The fruits of his labor included avocados, lychee, tangerines and anthuriums which were always shared with friends, family and neighbors alike. He will be remembered with love for his steadfastness, his quiet presence and his kind thoughtfulness. Neal is survived by his beloved, Buni Brooks Nakamura; stepchildren, Justin Terry (Linda Chong Tim) and Marada Terry (Benjamin Vocal); hanai sister/cousin, Jean Hasegawa; grandchildren, Heaven, Kadyn, Kiara and Chandler; numerous cousins and extended family; and by his best fur buddy, Louis. Private services held.
