JANET H. FUJIOKA Janet H. Fujioka Janet H. Fujioka, of Hilo, passed away on May 21, 2026. She was an active community volunteer, committed to many causes throughout her life. She was a particularly devoted and early advocate for the well-being of women and children, championing the Equal Rights Amendment, serving in various capacities with the Zonta Club of Hilo and the American Association of University Women, and helping to found Project Keiki, a child-care center in Hilo. She also volunteered countless hours helping charitable organizations through her involvement with United Way. Guided by a deep commitment to her faith, she served as a trustee for the Pacific School of Religion and in various roles with the Hawaii Conference of the United Church of Christ. She was a devout member of the Church of the Holy Cross in Hilo. Visitation will be held at the Church of the Holy Cross (440 W. Lanikaula Street) in Hilo on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.; memorial service will begin at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers or monetary offerings, contributions may be made in her memory to the Church of the Holy Cross (440 W. Lanikaula St, Hilo, HI 96720; holycrosshilo.com) or to the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation (P.O. Box 1915, Hilo, HI 96721-1915; zontahilo.org). She is survived by children, Dr. Craig (Catherine) Fujioka of Hilo; Carrie (Delwyn) Oki of Honolulu; LeeAnn (Wayne) Yasukawa of California; Kurt (Arlene) Fujioka of Paauilo; and granddaughter, Amy Yasukawa of California. Also survived by sisters, Joan Oya and Betty (Lloyd) Nishihara; sister-in-law, Sanae Hayashi; and numerous nephews and nieces. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary, Inc. in Hilo, Hawaii.
