She was a particularly devoted and early advocate for the well-being of women and children, championing the Equal Rights Amendment, serving in various capacities with the Zonta Club of Hilo and the American Association of University Women, and helping to found Project Keiki, a child-care center in Hilo. Jun 21(2.) NEAL TADASHI NAKAMURA Neal Tadashi Nakamura, born August 18, 1949, in Hilo, Hawaii, passed away on March 24, 2026 at the age of 76. He was surrounded by the love of his family. Neal was a graduate of Hilo High School and a business major at University of Hawaii, Manoa. He was an avid photographer and skin diver in his youth and later enjoyed metal detecting and creating jewelry from his many treasures.
