This year's Fourth of July Celebration will feature various activities throughout the day, a performance by the Hawaii County Band at 7pm, culminating with the traditional Fireworks Exhibition at 8pm in Hilo Bay. NOTICE TO MOTORISTS KAWAINUI STREAM BRIDGE [27-7] CLOSED FOR WOODEN DECK AND RAILING REPLACEMENT The County of Hawai'i Department of Public Works will be replacing the wooden deck and railings on Kawainui Stream Bridge. The bridge closure along Old Mamalahoa Highway will commence starting May 13 to May 31, 2024. To ensure the safety of workers and the public, the bridge will be closed 24 hours a day for the duration of the work. Residents between Old Onomea Road and Kula'iomano Road may be affected. NOTICE TO MOTORISTS Mamalahoa Highway Safety Improvements Vicinity of Haleili Street and Bruner Road The State Highways Division will begin improvements on Highway 11, Mile Post 96 to 105.40. Work in these areas involve widening shoulders, pavement reconstruction, installing guardrail and end treatments, guardrail reflector markers, flexible delineators, traffic signs, pavement marking and striping, milled shoulder rumble strips, milled centerline rumble strips, asphalt shoulder regrading, grated drain inlets and shallow concrete drywells.
